2) WHAT DO I NEED TO PROVIDE?
The league supplies basic equipment including shirts, balls, and catcher’s gear; however, it is important that each player have their own personal equipment (see below). Included in the registration fee are a uniform shirt, ASA registration, insurance, umpire fees, basic equipment, and the standard picture package. You will need to provide:
During the Fall season (Fall Ball), Rookie through Major teams will be formed based on demand.
Carmichael Girls Softball hosts multiple seasons. Spring season kicks off in February and lasts through May. All-Stars starts June 1 and typically continues into mid-July. Fall Ball season kicks off August 1 and continues into November.
5) ARE THERE TRYOUTS OR PLAYER ASSESSMENTS?Yes. For the 10U divisions and up the league will assess players at the player clinics being held in January. Your player must attend one or both of the clinics. There are no player assessments for Little Ladies or Rookie Divisions. Also, there are no player assessments for Fall Ball; instead, teams will be put together by the league in an effort to make them as even as possible.
6) WHERE, WHEN & WHAT DAYS ARE PRACTICES?
Practices are generally weekdays, once or twice a week, at Carmichael Park and/or additional locations that the Board secures as needed in accordance with our insurance. Your coaches will inform you of the specific times and locations. Spring practices start in early February while Fall Ball practices start in early August.
7) WHERE & WHEN DO WE PLAY GAMES?For the Spring season, games are 7 days a week at Carmichael Park. Some divisions may interleague with other leagues in the Sacramento area. For Fall Ball, Carmichael Girls Softball plays other leagues that have Fall Ball programs. All Fall Ball games are played on Sundays as doubleheaders. Your coaches will inform you of the specific times and locations.
8) ARE THERE ANY KEY DATES I SHOULD BE AWARE OF?Please check this site frequently for the latest news and upcoming events. The best way to stay on top of all the Carmichael Girls Softball news is to become a fan on our Facebook page and sign up at the bottom of our home page to receive communications from us. Please note that we respect your privacy and are a non-profit organization; we will never share your contact information with anyone outside of Carmichael Girls Softball.
9) CAN I REQUEST MY CHILD TO BE ON A SPECIFIC COACH'S OR FRIEND'S TEAM?For the Little Ladies and Rookie Divisions: absolutely. In fact, we highly encourage this as we want to ensure the girls have a great experience sharing it with new and old friends. For all other divisions, there will be player evaluations and an ensuing blind draft (no player identities included) in order to make the teams as competitive and fair as possible. However, coach and manager volunteers will have their daughters on the same team - a great incentive to volunteer your time and expertise for Carmichael Girls Softball! Other than these volunteers, however, please note that we cannot accommodate special requests to be on specific teams for these older age divisions.
10) HOW MUCH DOES REGISTRATION COST?Carmichael Girls is a non-profit organization; we do our best to keep the costs as low as possible. We save on costs the sooner players are signed up, so we work on a tiered pricing schedule. Please check the Registration page for the most up to date information and sign up as soon as possible for the best savings! CGS is ready to assist if financial hardships make our registration fee difficult. Please contact us to discuss what can be done to help you and your daughter be a part of our softball family.
11) WHAT IF I WANT A REFUND?Our goal is to be flexible and fair. If there is a reasonable situation that arises, we will respond to it. We ask that you remain patient while the Board works through a specific situation. Once teams have been formed and uniforms ordered and barring highly unusual or unforeseen circumstances, refunds will not be issued. Please remember that Carmichael Girls Softball is a non-profit organization with Board members who volunteer their time to make the league run as smoothly as possible.
12) ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL TRAINING AND/OR CLINICS?Carmichael Girls Softball is dedicated to helping girls learn and improve their skills throughout their childhood. Each season we hold free Pre-Season Players Clinics. Additionally, there will also be a Pre-Season Coaches/Managers Positive Coaching Alliance clinic to help volunteers learn coaching/development skills including practice plans, pitching skills, and more.
13) HOW CAN I HELP OUT? There are many ways - each team needs volunteers and your support is key to ensuring a successful season for the team. Your fees do not pay any salaries – we are all volunteers. Here are positions you may consider:
- Manager: administrative and operational responsibility for your team.
- Head Coach or Assistant Coach: Primary role is to teach the girls and assist the Manager.
- Snack Bar: we always need parent volunteers to help out at the snack bar! Have a specialty on the BBQ? We need your help…!
- Team Parent: administrative support for the Manager in facilitating team needs throughout the season.
- Scorekeeper: Maintain game records for the team.
- Sponsor: you or your company can help by recruiting or being a sponsor. There are various levels of sponsorships available. For more information, please contact us.
